No Scenery...just a train!
Author: Train611

Hello,

Had a little time in Burnaby BC yesterday and heard this train on the scanner.

1. CP9818East is heading towards the crossover at Braid St in Coquitlam. The empty potash train is a few miles from Neptune Terminals where it was unloaded.

2. UP5527 is one of the helpers, a bit of a change to the CN; BNSF; Via: and Rocky Mountaineer power that could be seen here.

3. CP9619 is the DPU for this train, should be close to 150 cars.

Again, nothing fancy, no real scenery...just a passing train, always worth a photo or two!
This train will head towards a loading location probably in Saskatchewan.

Have a good week.

Nice. With all the rain we've had the last few days you sure lucked out on the weather--Sunday was the best day we've had for a while...

Is it normal for CP not to have a head light on the DP?

Yes, that is normal. The FRA requires a dim headlight, but for transport Canada either reflective lettering or a reflective square, or a standard FRED are satisfactory

I believe the locomotive has to be red in color too, or so I was told. CN's tail end remotes always show a red marker light. When CP uses the blue CEFX units on the tail end they must show a red reflectorized plaque hanging from the walkway chain.
