Now the locomotive is barely beyond the station building and much of the platform has been abandoned. How much platform does VIA need when trains are rarely more than six cars?

While working with CN in Montreal on the mechanical side, I remember working on the units pictured, and seeing passenger trains of 12 - 20 cars on a regular basis. The afternoon pool train: Montreal Windsor station - Toronto Union Station (CN Power and crews) usually had 12 plus cars. Mind you this was in the mid 60's. Good memories...but no camera then! (Dumb move on my part). 611 |
