Prince George BC was a major shop and yard on the PGE and later BC Rail.

The BC Government owned railway changed its name from Pacific Great Eastern to British Columbia Railway in the early 1970's.
PGE was a title adopted early in the 1900's, curious as a "Great Eastern" as it was one of the western most railways in North America. The odd title got parodied as "Province's Greatest Expense","Prince George Eventually" or "Please Go Easy".

PGE was a loyal MLW customer, shown here is an RS-3 in Prince George yard with a transfer to the CN in Prince George.

An RS-10 in the final PGE paint scheme, and the "map" PGE emblem is shown at the Prince George shops. Note the curious multiple unit connections, and the first generation "ditch lights" mounted above the old style reflectorised headlight.

Finally, a pair of S-13's, long time Prince George residents at the pulp mill yard north of the Fraser River.

PGE and BCR went through many paint schemes over the decades. The dark green with orange ends and lettering replaced an earlier more attractive orange paint scheme.

All are very dirty in these 1972 images, something not characteristic of earlier and later PGE and BCR eras.
