Storm damage on the Squamish Sub.
Author: loleta

Thanks to a heads-up from BCR4619 and a little hunting around, I managed to photograph the repair efforts after a washout at Brunswick, Mile 20. It appears the creek sent a torrent of mud, rocks, and branches across the right-of-way, damaging a centerbeam flatcar parked in the siding there.
1. After days of heavy rain, water is just pouring out of the cliffs all along the railroad, as here at Mile 17.
2. The creek at Mile 20.
3. Lots of mud.

4. Pushing the damaged car along the siding. Note the gravel on top of the car.
5. Train 546 moves slowly through the work site. It will pick up the damaged flatcar and take it south. 1/80 sec, f2.8, ISO 256,000: this is the best I could do!

Glad you were able to make it up there, Nice set of photos.

Must have ben quite the force to knock that Centre-Beam over, evidence showing on the top.

Cheers,
C

Great photos. Is it my imagination or are empty centerbeams the new preferred "bad track detectors"?
