Canadian Railroads > Ontario Northand Bid in the works?Date: 01/24/15 18:19 Ontario Northand Bid in the works? Author: DrLoco Jan 23'rd North Bay Nugget has an article about a potential bidder for the ONR. It's a company called TGR Rail and the Mushkegowuk Tribal Council. The story in full is here:
http://www.nugget.ca/2015/01/23/ont-northland-bid-in-the-works They're talking of adding service and trains and even new trackage around the Ring of Fire mineral areas...Lofty goals, indeed! ONR needs gov't support or deep pockets to serve the north, period. That was the model back in the T&NO days, what's changed? Higher labour costs and fuel prices...oh that'll work in a Shortline model. Robot crews...good math. Sean Steele London, ON |
