Canadian Railroads > Local railroad action in the Niagara regionDate: 01/25/15 11:04 Local railroad action in the Niagara region Author: YankeeDog I google earth the CNR Niagara yard and noticed it is ripped up. If there any local jobs in the area between there and Hamilton. How busy is the Ft. Erie area?
thanks Date: 01/25/15 12:36 Re: Local railroad action in the Niagara region Author: hepc46 Niagara Falls yard is completely gone, has been for a couple of years. One train each way per day into the station, the Amtrak/VIA New York Toronto Maple Leaf. All traffic based out of Port Robinson yard, NS/CN interchange at Fort Erie, plus CP run-through to Buffalo. CN sets off/lifts at Fort Erie, usually some sort of power sitting around there. Some switch jobs out of Port Rob, not as many trains as there were a few years back. Shortline (Trillium Rail) in Port Colborne to St. Catharines through Welland. All depends what you are looking for.

Usually, every morning you can see CN#422, CN#331 and Amtk #97 if you sit near Glendale Ave. in St. Catherines. It's not a hard place to find, just follow the tracks after they cross over the Welland Canal. PM if you want. Bill Turner Hamilton, Ont. |
