Canadian Railroads > this day, ten years agoDate: 02/21/15 10:30 this day, ten years ago Author: hoggerdoug Ventured out to see the RMR on the return trip of the "test run". The train only went to Prince George and was wye turned and back south. If I recall, later on the RMR train did a full trip from Whistler to Jasper return, sort of an orientation for the company and on board staff.

Should be going again in April. I guess the senior boys ex BC Rail/now CN ; are running the Whistler - Jasper train. As well as the North Van - Whistler train. Take care, thanks for your continued posts. 611 Posted from iPhone Date: 02/22/15 04:58 Re: this day, ten years ago Author: hoggerdoug The collective agreement(s) still in place on the former BC Rail are quite firm that any train operated on the BC Rail territory will be crewed by BC Rail employees. When I worked the Fraser Discovery, Prince George to Whistler and return, we had two crews assigned, operating alternate trips. It was a very good job, well compensated and lots of time off. The RMR has reduced the frequency between Whistler and Jasper and now it is only one crew required on the BC Rail side, the job is a bit of a nightmare and not necessarily senior employees. The portion of the trip between Prince George and Jasper is operated by CN crews out of the freight pool. The CN crews don't care for the train and the "scooping on the road" when the RMR may overtake and pass another freight crew from the same pool. Doug
