Canadian Railroads > MLW MondayDate: 02/23/15 08:53 MLW Monday Author: Lerchy MLW Monday seems to have an industrial theme today so I have reposted a picture of Quebec Iron & Titanium RS-18 #6 sitting at the back gate of MLW in June of 1968. This RS-18 was one of the last RS-18's built.

Bob Date: 02/23/15 09:21 Re: MLW Monday Author: CPR_4000 It's interesting that MLW was building RS18's instead of C420's at that late date. MLW built C424's and C630's, but not 420's. I wonder why?
Date: 02/23/15 13:17 Re: MLW Monday Author: stevelv Wasn't aware that MLW produced chopped nose RS18's. I just assumed all of the low nose units I've seen pictures of were chopped by their owners. Learn something new every day.
Date: 02/23/15 14:41 Re: MLW Monday Author: CPR_4000 Pacific Great Eastern (BC Rail), Cartier, Roberval & Saguenay, Arnaud, Wabush Lake, and International Nickel (INCO) had factory built low-nose RS18's, as well as QIT. They were all a little homely and unadorned, but they all had the heart of an Alco.
Date: 02/23/15 21:28 Re: MLW Monday Author: eminence_grise You may have noticed that the high short hood RS-18's had the handbrake on the front of the short hood. When CP chop nosed their RS-18's, they carried on that tradition. The factory built low nose RS-18's had the handbrake inside the operating cab.
