on this day, some red, white, blue and DRGW
Author: hoggerdoug

Leaving Williams Lake BC Feb 24, 2005 another Potter Turn. We had the DRGW 5401 in tow, it had done a circuitous tour of the eastern states and greater part of Canada. Oddly yesterday on Trainorders the 5401 was featured in a thread "From the Past". Anyhow a few images at Williams Lake before we departed southward. doug

Never thought you would ever see something like that on BC Rail. Will have to show this one to my dad.

In photo 2, did you give yourself an LU/LC for a photo op? :)

Not sure what the letters mean but I think he wants to know if you broke the train apart to get the shot of 5401 with nothing coupled on the front? First shot shows the train coupled together. You could have done as he suggested or you could just have taken the shots in a different order and caught the DRGW unit while backing onto the train...

Oh, I got it now. Actually went through the other images taken that day, train arrived with just two units on the lead. We pickup the 4613 at Williams Lake, see attached images. Image 07 you can see 4613 over on another track. Doug

Yea, sorry I thought you were a CN hogger. LC/LU are tie up codes for Loco coupling and uncoupling.

Ugh no, I was BC Rail except for the last 4 or so years after CN takeover. BC Rail was by the hour rate of pay, no fancy codes for unit swaps etc, "all in a days work" so to say, some perks and "claims" for different stuff such as DPU's or "training allowance". The BC Rail collective agreements and arbitrary payments are quite different than CN. Sadly, the BCR guys might be further ahead money wise with the perks and stuff that CN crews have, although the "assignments" still in place on BC Rail are more advantageous than pool freight etc on CN. Thanks for your interest in my post, Doug
