Canadian Railroads > CN 3032 and others on the Wainwright Sub

CN has taken delivery of many new ES44ACs lately with most being in the 2800 and 2900 series. Recently due to some confusion, a batch of new units were delivered in the 3000 series. These will be renumbered in the near future and in the meantime their computers are showing their correct 29xx numbers but externally and for reporting and train ID purposes they are 3000s.

One of these came west on Q119-22 recently and we headed out to shoot it.

1. Coming down the hill towards Bremner they cross Range Road 225.

2. The girls wave to the train before once again losing interest and playing in the snow.

3. Somehow the first Q119-22 managed to scoop Q119-21 somewhere. Here the second Q119 hustles west of Uncas on double track.

4. One of the Operation Lifesaver painted cabeese provides a chilly platform for the brakeman to protect the point on rail train W900 as they shove east of Uncas to the next work spot.

5. GTW 5949, the only CN painted GTW SD40-3 on the roster, idles as the crew lifts the used rail.

6. The rail crew battles the clock and the elements as they connect the old rails together to load onto the train.

And there was a third Q119 in the Edmonton area on the same day. Murphy struck once again as all three Q119's ended up in and around the Edmonton Intermodal Terminal at the same time. Here one of the 119's heads west on the Edson Sub at Spruce Grove.

Before meeting up with CP9300 to shoot the 3032 on Q119, I caught Q198 with a single SD70M-2 on the head end grinding up the hill near Ardrossan AB. After shooting the 2 119's and that welded rail train, I bagged Q112 near Uncas AB before heading towards home.
