Canadian Railroads > 7 passenger trains in 25 minutesDate: 03/24/15 17:18 7 passenger trains in 25 minutes Author: Mberry Only AMT and VIA trains (and Amtrak twice a day) pass CN's closed Wellington tower, but the volume is high, especially at rush hour. Here in consecutive order are the 7 trains that I shot crossing the Lachine Canal just south of Montreal's Central Station between 5:00 and 5:25 PM today on a sunny and somewhat mild evening after work.
1-VIA 6401 is about to pass Wellington Tower as it leads a slightly late VIA 64 from Toronto over the Lachine Canal. 2-VIA 6453 leads VIA 69 over the still frozen Lachine Canal. In the foreground is a small piece of track that used to lead to the CN swing bridge. 3-VIA 6439 pushes a deadhead movement past the out of use CN swing bridge. Michael Berry Edited 1 time(s). 5-VIA 920 is pushing another deadhead movement to Central Station. VIA 920 is visible through an old CN swing bridge which has been locked in place and out of use for about twenty years. CN freight trains used to use this to access the Port of Montreal but a new route replaced this one. 6-AMT 1350 pushes a deadhead movement towards Montreal's Central Station during the evening rush hour. You certainly get around the Montreal Area! 611 Date: 03/25/15 04:09 Re: 7 passenger trains in 25 minutes Author: kgmontreal Apparently the City of Montreal has budget money set aside to repair Wellington Tower for some sort of adaptive reuse.

Some sort of community center, I have heard. Adding a balcony around the 3rd floor level would be nice for railfans, if they would ever consider such a thing. Ray |
