Canadian Railroads > Private Varnish `` Alexander Hamilton``Date: 03/28/15 14:26 Private Varnish `` Alexander Hamilton`` Author: FJ Yesterday, the ``Alexander Hamilton`` was at the tail end of the Montreal-NYC Amtrak Adirondack train. Owned by Morristown & Erie, it was built by Budd in 1952. Amtrak #68 is seen here passing St-Jean Qc (St John's). The historic Marker (First Spike 1836-1936) commemorates this location where Canada's first railroad was begun in 1836, later to become the first international railroad in Canada.

Hope to see this car next weekend, 4489 out Date: 03/28/15 20:35 Re: Private Varnish `` Alexander Hamilton`` Author: jp1822 Exactly what this lines need - nice large windows! This is why I loved when the Heritage coaches were used on this line.....I still think VIA should contribute a dome car to this train......Park Dome car or Skyline Dome car....figure something out in Albany to switch the car out or somehow figure out the HEP electrical issue.....

Passengers are also much far more apt to whine about lack of Wifi (On the AM-2) than the size of the windows or the longer seat pitch wih leg rests. Date: 03/30/15 18:01 Re: Private Varnish `` Alexander Hamilton`` Author: 4489 jp1822 Wrote:

This car is running a few runs, MTR-NYC return on weekends. As much as I would like to ride this car, a $400- round trip is a bit steep. Here's what I am looking for: - Refreshments included - nonalcoholic? I don't drink alcohol per say, so not a breaking point. - Comfortable seat - Windows - large, clean, good viewing - Refreshments (breakfast, lunch) - Attentive service - Clean atmosphere Hmmmm......this sounds a little like Acela Express First Class.... EDIT - Actually, if $400 round trip is the price and it includes most of the above, it's a bargain when compared to Acela First Class. I do have a disclaimer that I have no idea what the interior of this car looks like or what us offered....But I am now going to look it up. If an extra rider is needed, feel free to PM me.
