Canadian Railroads > British Columbia Railway, Budds, 35 years AgoDate: 04/22/15 21:03 British Columbia Railway, Budds, 35 years Ago Author: FiveChime One of the many attractions there then were the RDCs that ran daily in each direction from North Vancouver
to Lillooet. Regards, Jim Evans Date: 04/22/15 21:24 Re: British Columbia Railway, Budds, 35 years Ago Author: truxtrax And in Sept 2001 my gal and I rode The Prospector from West Van all the way to Prince George.
That trip was one of my all time fovorites, Then after getting to PG we went on through to Prince Rupert on the Skeena the following morning. After a couple of days in Prince Rupert we ferried down to Port Hardy and bussed down to Courtenay where we caught The Malahat to Victoria so I managed to ride the Budds on BCOL as well as the CN's on Vancouver Island. Of course me being backwards, I had no camera and my cell didn't take pictures then. I'll always have the memory of one very special trip! Addenndum: We spent a half hour in Lillooet before crossing the river and going up the grade, which with the great weather we had on this trip made the trip really special. That's how I'll always remember the yard at Squamish - full of Dogwood scheme combo door boxcars. Also of note is that the switches still have guard rails for the frogs. Not sure if the change (to self guarded frogs) occured to most of the line and yards by the mid 90s, but it had at Squampton.
