Canadian Railroads > Ex-ATSF, ex-BN & BNSFDate: 04/24/15 17:39 Ex-ATSF, ex-BN & BNSF Author: Mberry In December 2013 I shot one of the first CN 710's (crude oil from North Dakota for the Valero refinery in St-Romuald, Qc) in Montreal with a great lashup of CN 2098, BNSF 9661 and BNSF 5092. All three engines were owned by BNSF at one point, CN 2098 was originally ATSF 865, then BNSF 865. BNSF 9661 began life as BN 9661 and is still in its original paint scheme, though BNSF stencilling has been added. The third engine was built for BNSF in 2004.
Rumor has it that CN is done with receiving crude oil by unit train and this train as well as CN 704 (crude oil from Alberta for Valero) will be a thing of the past within a few weeks. Michael Berry Date: 04/25/15 03:49 Re: Ex-ATSF, ex-BN & BNSF Author: Ray_Murphy Mberry Wrote:

That seems hard to believe. Any idea of the reason? Ray Nice pictures from a favorite overpass, by the way. Date: 04/26/15 13:22 Re: Ex-ATSF, ex-BN & BNSF Author: Mberry Thanks.
Valero is not happy with CN for derailing a number of 704's and I would believe the plunging Canadian dollar pays a big role too. |
