CN5795 West meets CN8918 East
Author: Train611

Hello,
A nice day for photo ops today.
About 8 miles west of Kamloops on the CN Ashcroft, we caught a meet at a neat location.

1. A westbound grain train, CN5795 West, is slowing for the signals ahead as the east bound comes through the rock cut.
2. CN8918 is in charge of the eastbound "100 series" container train, and will clear the switch from single track as quick as possible.
3. The enginemen share a wave as the eastbound is almost completed his homeward trip while the westbound crew heads to Boston Bar.

A nice opportunity for the camera guy!

Thanks for looking,

611

I've never been over on the northern side of Kamloops Lake.  What is the road like to get into this area?  On the longer days in June, would you be able to get sun on this side in the early morning?

Boy the CN 1961 based paint scheme sure looks good on the big modern diesels.

Great photos.

Re: CN5795 West meets CN8918 East - Location Question

Hi Rick, and other TO'ers...

In answer to Rick's question fon the original post CN5795 etc.......

1. Shows the road to get to the location - good road. Tranquille Road and take the Red Lake cutoff and go about 1 mile and a half. (taken on another day)

2. The origianl photos were taken at 0855 in the morning. The eastbound freight image was at 0845. Good morning sun, tough afternoon sun.

Hope this helps.
