CN Okanagan, rails to trails
Author: eminence_grise

Yesterday, the citizens of Lake Country BC (the combined communities of Oyama and Winfield) authorised their city council to pay the $2.6 million to purchase their portion of the closed CN Okanagan Subdivision (Lumby Junction-Kelowna) from the railway.

The line does pass through an Okanagan First Nation reserve with whome negotiations continue.

The image shows the former CN Okanagan Sub. on the narrow strip of land that seperates Kalamalka Lake and Woods Lake.

Still hoping and fighting to keep the rails intact from Vernon to Kelowna. A rail trail can be put in beside the rails, but we need to keep the rails or loose our only rail connection to the rest of the country.
