Early Morning 120
Author: cn6218

120 was early this morning into Halifax, rolling through the Windsor Jct. interlocking at 08:35.

Although this train leaves Montreal with a solid consist of containers, empty gons for gypsum loading are often added in Moncton.  Once loaded, the gons will go back to wallboard plants in Saint John and McAdam with the assistance of New Brunswick Southern.

The snow may be gone Down East, but a new menace has appeared:  bugs!  They were swarming around me this morning as I waited for the train, but for the most part didn't bite or even land.  I don't expect that will last for long.

When does Fall start?

I really dig the visible heat shimmer in the first photo!

Nice shots. I can't believe you have no green yet!

FYI that 120 left Taschereau only about 1145 this morning, very late. He had a 2600 (don't recall the number), 5459 & 2316, elephant style.

Picture #2:  it looks like a hawk or osprey decided to build a home on the top of that line pole.

Osprey are fairly common around here.  There's a good size lake just to the left of the train for fishing.  That nest is relatively new.  It wasn't there two years ago.

CN has started to remove the pole line along here, but hopefully this pole will remain, and they will just remove the wires.

The occupant of the nest did make it into a few of my frames yesterday.  Here are a couple out takes, and a closeup of the bird in question. (Well, as close as I could hope for, consuidering it just wandered into the scene.)
