Canadian Railroads > CP 253 crossing the St-Lawrence riverDate: 05/23/15 16:51 CP 253 crossing the St-Lawrence river Author: Mberry On an abnormally cold spring morning (about 5 degrees celsius), I was waiting for CP 253 on the north shore of the St-Lawrence river in Lasalle, Qc. After a wait of 20 minutes or so, I saw a short CP 253 inbound from Binghamton with CP 8515, CP 9604 & CP 8920 as power. The second shot really shows how much more red the third and newest unit is compared to the two older AC4400CW's ahead.
Michael Berry Date: 05/23/15 18:05 Re: CP 253 crossing the St-Lawrence river Author: rschonfelder I wouldn't have thought the 3rd unit is so much red as the first two units are dirt in colour.
Nice photo and surprised you guys are still getting some low temps. Rick Date: 05/23/15 19:18 Re: CP 253 crossing the St-Lawrence river Author: up833 I never did like that candy apple red. Glad they switched back to the original red. Nice bridge shots!
Roger Beckett Date: 05/23/15 19:20 Re: CP 253 crossing the St-Lawrence river Author: eminence_grise The CP's St.Lawrence bridge is a classic structure. Amazingly, the spans from a previous bridge using the same piers and abutments are still in existence. When the North Saskatchewan was dammed in the 1950's, CP had to construct a high bridge over Lake Diefenbaker. The old St.Lawrence bridge spans were reused near Outlook SK.
