The diamond at De Beaujeu
Author: Mberry

The diamond at De Beaujeu, Qc (a 15 minute drive north from Coteau) is where VIA Rail's Alexandria sub crosses CP's double track Winchester sub. I was there for a short period last Saturday and caught a CP train and a VIA rail train. The lighting was not ideal for shooting the head end of the CP train, which was eastbound, so I posted a shot of the rear buffer car on CP 550 (crude oil for Albany) crossing the diamond. Next up was VIA 52 southbound over the diamond. The third shot shows the layout of the diamond.

Of interest was an old coal car on the siding just east of the diamond.

Why is VIA using conventional equipment on an Ottawa train?

TIA,
