01 southbound loaded coal train approaching "Murray Shop" at mile 73.3 02 view of the coal loads, another gloomy day, early 1985 03 head end is just about at Murray and the bottom of the grade from Quintette. the grade is about 8 miles descending and varies up to 1.5 percent. 04 a friendly wave from the Engineer 05 passing Murray, you can see a "pusher" crew member at the switch, most likely ready to push this train up the mountain 06 some sunshine on the black diamonds Date: 06/30/15 08:32 Re: a few more from Tumbler Author: hoggerdoug Date: 06/30/15 13:23 Re: a few more from Tumbler Author: loleta These photos and the one in the last set really capture the remoteness of the Tumbler Sub. I've never been farther along the line than Porcupine, a few miles from the junction with the Chetwynd Sub., but might give it another try if CN is in fact still operating. I'd read somewhere that the mines will close again in the near future, along with the one on the mainline near Pinesul.

Always nice to see the electrics when they were fairly new. By the time I first saw one in '99, it must have racked up many miles and looked very well used.
