Note the strange interior seating arrangement. The 3 seaters, such as they are, are low back, and all mounted bowling alley style.

Since moving to Lasalle I ride these everyday. The seating arrangement makes no sense to me. Before being refurbished at North Bay, they had 3+2 benches.

I wonder how long it will take for some enterprising athlete to grab the overhead bar and kick out all the windows down the side of the car?

Actually several if not all of these cars had their seats rearranged like this long before rebuilding.

I don't get the reason for it. They have lots of UTDC-style and NJT-style bi-level cars for capacity, so they relegate these "Comet" cars to the low density lines, like Candiac, so why the need for this rapid transit style interior ?

I've ridden NJT cars and the 3x2 seating blows, way to tight.  2x2 makes more sense than what I see here though.

Judging from the overhead straps to hold onto, one can easily see the reason as it allows more people on board.  This is how the railways are increasing service by getting more passengers  (STANDING in car) on top of the same detiorating track and the same number of trains.  We have exactly the same observations and bewilderment from the travelling public here in Melbourne.

There are 10 wall seats for every 3 windows.
If 2 seaters, that would have been 12 seats, 2 rows per window.

No, that wouldn't be a valid reason, and I saw no way a wheelchair could get up there.
