MLW Monday Winnipeg 1983
Author: kgmontreal

From 1983 comes a pair of photos of MLW switchers in Winnipeg.  7076, an MLW S-2, is shown idling in front of Rugby tower on a July morning.  7076 was the first diesel-electric locomotive built by MLW.  (There has always been controversy about whether 7077 or 7076 was MLW's first.  7077 was in fact built by Alco.)

In second photo a slightly more modern MLW S-4 is shown in front of the CPR engine house in St Boniface.  Unlike the 7076 which rides on Blunt trucks, the 7112 had AAR B trucks.

Also interesting are the variations of the Action Red paint scheme on the two MLW's.  7112 has 5" white stripes on its nose and the Multimark logo on the cab.  7076 has the 8" nose stripes and the logo on the hood.

We have Kodachrome 64 and Lightroom to thank for that.
