Clearwater Sub. yesterday
Author: eminence_grise

We headed out on the Clearwater Sub. yesterday in part to photograph trains but also for Kylie to gather information for her West of Edmonton project. The weather was not the best, but the rain held off for us to get up as far as mile 120 of the Albreda Sub.

Photo 1: Just before our first train arrived a foreman arrived to set off on his hirail.
Photo 2: BCOL 4653 led train M35551 at Barriere. This is the BC Rail traffic train from Prince George to Thornton Yard.
Photo 3: CN 8838 worked as DPU on 355.

Photo 7: CN 309 arrived shortly after 119 had passed, led by 2220
Photo 8: Interesting lettering on EFCX 604724, as you can see this is a former CPWX covered hopper, EFCX is the new reporting mark for the Canadian Wheat Board.
Photo 9: CN 8809 DPU on 309

Photo 10: Train C77151 arrives at Blue River with the 2890 leading.
Photo 11: This car started quite a stir, we noticed it before the crews did. The photo does not do the damage justice, you could see the coal in the car through the side. The post and side wall are severely damaged, this kind of damage may mean that this is the last revenue run for CNA 194093.
Photo 12: same as above

Photo 13: DPU 2959 on train C77151, we were surprised to see only a single lead and single remote on this train.
Photo 14: Train 112 departs Blue River with units 2258, 8908, 2680 as power. Note all the used concrete ties in the yard, there are piles of concrete ties all over the property as there is no real recycling facility for them as wood ties could be chipped and incinerated. Also the weeds are very bad in the Blue River yard.
Photo 15: Kylie spotted this unique container, CEUU 4400111 on train 112
