Canadian Railroads > F-unit FridayDate: 11/27/15 09:17 F-unit Friday Author: Lerchy FP7 4067 was photographed passing through Westmount Station in the early 1970's as some passengers waited for an afternoon commuter train. CPR's Glen Yard is just to the right in the picture. Several years after this picture 4067 was lettered Amroad and used in the move Silver Streak.

If you could let me know I would apprecaite it! Date: 11/28/15 03:38 Re: F-unit Friday Author: Ray_Murphy 4489 Wrote:

I commuted from the Westmount station for a couple of years in that period. That track was always used for westbound movements, so the locomotive was likely headed to St Luc for some kind of service. All the passenger locomotives were based at the Glen (the CP yard and engine service facility at this location), but they had heavier service/inspections performed at St Luc. They were typically shuttled there in small groups (affectionately called "herds"). Passenger train consists (like the Canadian) were shuttled between the Glen and Windsor Station by switchers, and their locomotives deadheaded separately. Commuter train consists backed in or out with their locomotives attached. The balloon track at the Glen was used to change direction. Not to nay say what Ray & Neil have said but I think that 4067 is heading west. I also do not think that the folks on the platform are waiting for a commuter run as the signboard for #1 The Canadian is displayed which was only displayed close to train time for #1 Date: 11/30/15 07:15 Re: F-unit Friday Author: Lerchy Being the know it all teenager at the time I did not bother to make notes on the slides when they returned from processing so what you say is quite likely.
