Supercontinental Sunday at Jasper July 1970
Author: JPB

Sometime in July of 1970, CN's wb Supercontinental arrives Jasper, AB where a full length dome will be switched into its consist for the rest of the trip to Vancouver. Nice looking train even if the GAF slide color dyes have shifted over the decades!

Slide doesn't look all that bad, not as sharp or crisp as if it had shot on Kodachrome, but not bad for a 46 year old slide. I didn't know the full dome was added at Jasper at  that time , as when I rode it in 76;the dome was added at  Winnipeg ,but the sky tops were gone by then.

So now the "Panorama" car, also 2nd hand, has replaced the ex-MILW full dome.

Nothing has changed, except it runs 2 or 3 days a week, they changed the train name, and the almighty CN takes 24 hours longer to get it across the country, and not from Montreal.

I like this sunday subject matter! Excellent shot of the Skytop; that's probably the tail of the Ruper Rocket, which the cars were usually assigned to.
