Grain the Size of Golf Balls
Author: loleta

Or the digital version of grain, which is even worse: noise. But to quote Henry James, "We work in the dark - we do what we can." So here are two very noisy photos (ISO 32,000) of CN train 546, which I wouldn't have bothered to try photographing after dark had BC Rail 4616 not been on the point.
1. 4616 North approaching Westbay.
2. A couple of miles up the line, at Mile 9 in West Vancouver.
3. And for a little noise relief, a non-noisy photo of the West Vancouver switcher on the Capilano River bridge this afternoon. I photograph this scene far too often.

I like em both, even if they are noisy. Same goes for my kids!

Thanks Loleta!

Yes, the grain is very obvious, but you have two images that could not have been taken or could not have easily been taken in the days of film. Great shots for such high ISO.

Your first shot, in B/W remids me of the time I mistakenly developed a roll of Tri-X in Dektol instead of HC-110 !
