Visiting Montreal?
Author: Lackawanna484

Great article by Michael Berry in the new Railfan & Railroad. Detailed description of locations, rails, and a good map of the area.

Well worth locating and saving if AMT, Via, CP CN or Montreal Ports are of interest.

Well, you just cost me $6.37. I went out and bought R&R and skimmed through while eating lunch at my favorite luncheonette. Got ketchup stains on it.  Is it true you cannot hang around an AMT station, like Pine Beach (hobby shop), if you have not bought a ticket ?

That's not unusual. At Union Station in Los Angeles Metrolink requires you to have a valid ticket on you if you're on the platforms.
It's one of the ways they use to keep the pan handlers away.

Yes, all AMT stations are paid fare zones and require a ticket to be on the platforms. However, on a weekend, the chances of AMT security being out at any station checking for tickets is rather low in my opinion.

AMT does not have local fares either. Not right.
There should be the option of buying such at the full fare initially, then tappping out to exit at another suburban station to be credited back the difference. That is what SEPTA plans to do.

DC METRO works the same way.

What is a 'local fare'?

Local = Zones 2 thru 8 , inclusive.
