Date: 05/17/16 17:53 Re: CN Mayerthorpe Bridge ( New) Author: P OK, I can't get a .png file to post here in TO, but I received a photo today of the new bridge with a train on it. It is fairly close up, but it appears that the new bridge is only perhaps 300-400 feet long. Must have used a massive amount of fill.
Perhaps someone else can post a pic as I'm sure there have been some published. Date: 05/17/16 17:58 Re: CN Mayerthorpe Bridge ( New) Author: Ray_Murphy Here's the CBCreport I found:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/mayerthorpe-s-cn-trestle-bridge-rebuilt-after-major-fire-1.3586555 20 days. That's impressive. Ray Date: 05/19/16 07:10 Re: CN Mayerthorpe Bridge ( New) Author: hoggerdoug 20 some days to build a bridge?? I hope the first train crew over the new structure demands somebody from Engineering to ride with them, a test of sorts.
I know a helicopter mechanic in Williams Lake, after he does repairs, the pilot does a test flight and the mechanic goes with it. Testing his ability and faith in the workmanship. Doug Date: 05/20/16 10:58 Re: CN Mayerthorpe Bridge ( New) Author: notabob According to the article, the new bridge is actually 292ft longer, but that may be including the fill, vs. the original all-trestle construction.
