Not sure why anyone would take "Rocky" to Jasper. It's the CP route that has the better scenery and far more interesting railway engineering. And the CN route is covered by the Canadian, which if you ride enough you would  eventually see the entire route in daylight given it's poor timekeeping.

The Rocky to Jasper could also be the one that runs via the ex-BC Rail route, this year with overnight stops in Whistler and Quesnel. Fantastic scenery and gradients north of Lillooet, B.C., and plenty of interesting railway engineering.  Since the demise of BC Rail passenger service in 2002, there's no other way to ride that spectacular line. For those with the bucks to take a Rocky Mountaineer trip, this could well be the best one.

Jasper and Banff are different tourist experiences.  The train journey from Vancouver to Banff includes a great variety of scenery. The journey to Jasper features slightly less spectacular views, but makes up for it with the spectacle of Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies.

Kamloops to Banff is a very long day for "Rocky Mountaineer" passengers, with departure from the hotels in Kamloops at 0615 AM, and arrival in Banff after 5PM.  Any train delays and the arrival in Banff is in darkness.  By comparison, the Jasper departure from the hotels is 8AM.  The average age of most "Rocky Mountaineer" guests is 65. Comments about the Banff train are "really long day, no time to sightsee in Banff in the evening, fantastic scenery'.

Brewster's has cut back on many of its tour bus services this year, however will continue to serve its core market which is Banff and Jasper National Parks and Calgary.

In 1972, this Motor Coach Industries "Courier" was touring Yoho National Park, seen here at the Spiral Tunnels overlook. Back then, the spirals were visible from the highway.

I don't think pre MC-5 MCI buses had any presence in the US, just Canada. Greyhound changed all that.
