Canadian Railroads > F-M Friday three days lateDate: 05/23/16 04:09 F-M Friday three days late Author: kgmontreal I missed last week's F-M Friday so I'm playing catch up. From a rainy fall day in 1972 comes an eclectic power consist of an H16-44, a GP9, and F7B and a C-Liner westbound at Three Valley, BC. The Revelstoke area frequently had miserable weather in autumn. That year it seemed to rain every day in September and although there were some nice days in October, the rain continued through the month of November. British Columbia can be beautiful in summer. But the other seasons can be a tad damp.
Ken Goslett Date: 05/23/16 13:09 Re: F-M Friday three days late Author: eminence_grise There's a very early 4-4-0 steam engine in Three Valley Lake, which fell through a wooden trestle soon after 1885.
Also there was a 3 foot guage logging railway "Maunday River Logging Co." which exchanged logs with CP and ran several miles south to Wop Lake. The late Dave Williams accurately mapped the line and found several artifacts, including an arch bar truck and wheels and a large oil headlight. He presented these to the Three Valley Gap ghost town and only the truck is on display. |
