Canadian Railroads > The Weekly RockyDate: 05/23/16 09:35 The Weekly Rocky Author: loleta Last summer we had a Rocky Mountaineer round trip (trains 611/612) on the Squamish Subdivision five days a week. This summer, train 614 runs south on Friday and 613 goes north on Sunday--and that's it. Here is yesterday's northbound in the grey in West Vancouver and in the rain approaching Porteau. (I stole this composition from BCR4619's photo of an even less common passenger train: http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?15,3974911,3974973#msg-3974973).
The daily CN freight train is once again mostly nocturnal, but here it is coming south in the morning last week near mile 10. Maybe a tri-weekly train, but stops in Squamish etc.
Is Rocky able to run with Silver Leaf and Gold Leaf, particularly on this route - sea to sky? Rocky did have a special lounge - single level similar to VIA's Fraser Lounge. Rocky did operate it on this route one year and am curious if they put it back to compensate for a potential lack of Silver Leaf coaches. I see only one Gold Leaf dome. |
