Canadian Railroads > Holiday Monday on the New Brunswick SouthernDate: 05/26/16 18:49 Holiday Monday on the New Brunswick Southern Author: cn6218 On the way home from a weekend in Maine, we took the road less travelled, Route 6 to Vanceboro, and the border crossing at St. Croix. The border guards always seem puzzled that I take this route, since apparently hardly anybody else does. I don't think I've ever seen a lineup there.
Anyway, the timing this past Monday was perfect. As we approached the border we heard the American crew get their clearance to leave McAdam and head to a meet with the eastbound train from Brownville Jct. at Bancroft. 907 had a pair of company SD40s flanking a GMTX leaser, as they neared the road crossing about 4 miles west of McAdam. Many of the old ABS signals are still in place along the track through Maine, although turned sideways and decommissioned after Canadian Pacific gave up in 1995. GTD |
