Petro-Canada switch, Camrose Sub Edmonton Alberta.
Author: BCR_766

For those looking for some ancient power, Edmonton has alot of CN 1st and 2nd generation GMDD 4-Axle diesels roaming around. Monday 2016 June 20 I caught the 1800hr daily Petro-Canada/Rio Tinto Alcan switchers delivering empties to the local industrial yard. Power included GP38-2W's #4781, #4780, slug #518 and GP38-2 #7514. Sometimes a GMD-1 is substituted in the consist. There is a slight incline when crossing 17st which makes for nice harmonics when the old GMD's bite into the rail while pushing up the hill!!

Is that CN's transcon main line in the photo or is this off some secondary line?!?!  That trackage sure looks more like a secondary line...

In the third picture, if you follow the trackage North (looking at the picture) approx 1/4mile, the Bretville Jct wye is where it connects with the CN Transcon main, East-West, (Wainwright Sub, If you look closely you can kind of see the signals). The Camrose Sub is heavily used as well, not as many trains as the main, but pretty close.
