Canadian Railroads > MLW Monday-Sherbrooke, QCDate: 08/22/16 04:17 MLW Monday-Sherbrooke, QC Author: kgmontreal Here are two shots from the Jacques-Cartier Boulevard bridge in Sherbrooke, Quebec from the CP Rail years. Looking east the first shows a westbound container train with five C-424 units in the spring of 1977. From the same bridge but looking west shows an eastbound "boxes" grain train in February 1980. Every car on the train is a 40' boxcar loaded with wheat from western Canada and bound for export at the port of Saint John, New Brunswick. In the distance around a curve in the Magog River one can see the yellow, steel centre cupola caboose. The grain train is pulled by three C-424 units and an RS-18.

Currently CMQ runs each direction through Sherbrooke three or four times per week. No grain is handled through Saint John and very few containers.
