Ballast Train on BC Rail
Author: cp1400

Sunday Aug 21 CN ran a work train from North Vancouver to the derailment site near Seton. SD70Ace 8103 and SD70M-2 8825 lead a ten car ballast train operating as work train 999. Interestingly they met work train 933 at Creekside which turned out to be a single engine running long hood forward from Birken to Squamish.

1. Work train 999 at Brackendale BC which is a few miles north of Squamish.

2. Crossing Rutherford Creek at Tisdall.

3. The entire train visible at Nairn Falls near Pemberton.

4. Along Gates Lake at Birken. Cars visible in the siding are from the derailed train 570 that tore up track between Seton and Marne on Friday Aug 19. The siding at Darcy has been removed so Birken is now the first siding south of Seton Lake.

5. Work train 999 met work train 933 at Creekside. Train 933 was a light engine move from Birken to Squamish.

6. Work train 933 light engine at Brandywine Falls. 72 miles in reverse.
