Last Light on the Former BC Rail
Author: loleta

Continuing this thread (http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?15,4120532), I had hoped to get train 578 leaving Dawson Creek before dark but it was not to be. Nevertheless, I managed to get some good photos around town in the diminishing light.
1-3. BCOL 4619 runs around some tankcars before spotting them.

4-6. Now on the right end of the cars, they get ready to spot them.

7. 4619 on the spur.
8. Moonrise over the yard in Dawson Creek, with the train lighting up a string of hoppers.
9. Train 578 sits while the crew gets a clearance to depart for Chetwynd.

Very nice stuff. New title for image #9 - "Every dance with the devil by the pale moon light?"

Can  I ask what is being shipped inside those hi-cube 60' boxcars?  There are enough of them on the trains in your photos that I am thinking they are carrying lumber given the area it is coming from.  Is that the new way of shipping lumber now?

According to the Louisiana Pacific website, it's OSB -- oriented strand board -- from Dawson Creek.
