CP 8818 extra parts behind cab on CP Shuswap Sub

Hi I got word the other day that something was added to CP 8818 (ES44AC)  so i thought i would keep a eye out for it and look for myself at the extra box and tubing behind the conductors side of cab behind rear facing window ,This locomotive is in coal service, The pictures where taken on the Shuswap Sub at the coal respray .Anyone have any input on this ?  Greg

Looks like some tubing, an air pump of some sort, some conduit and a data recorder with an aerial, so it would appear to be monitoring the air above the locomotive, recording it and then doing a trackside data dump somewhere, somehow. Don't know if it's monitoring the locomotive performance or maybe coal dust ...somewhere, somehow.
