Canadian Railroads > As it should be: BCR on the BCRDate: 09/19/16 15:48 As it should be: BCR on the BCR Author: loleta Train 574 out of Fort St. John usually returns to Chetwynd before dawn. But an early morning check of the yard made it clear that they were still out there somewhere, so I headed north to try to intercept them.
1. I found them south of Monias, and caught them coming down this stretch of roller-coaster track between Windy and Bond. 2. BCOL 4619 and train at Bond siding. 3. Arriving in Chetwynd. Crews replacing 50,000 ties on the Dawson Creek branch get out of the way at Wabi, so train 579--again with BCOL 4619--can get past.
6. Rolling east at Groundbirch. Train 473 out of Prince George had cars for Dawson Creek but was running late, so the Dawson crew didn't wait around for them in Chetwynd. The work crews were expecting 15 carloads of new ties off 473. They were not happy. - L.F. Date: 09/19/16 16:00 Re: As it should be: BCR on the BCR Author: loleta 7. East of Groundbirch.
8. Please close the gate at Foss. Thank you. 9. Heading downhill through the weeds east of Kiskatinaw. - L.F. Date: 09/19/16 18:30 Re: As it should be: BCR on the BCR Author: M-420 It looks sp strange to see 6 axle power on the Dawson Sub.

Very typical attitude as seen on a number of smaller Class 1 lines such as the Western Pacific and the Rio Grande. Yes, I met a couple of former BCR employees up there who made vivid, expletive-laden comparisons between working for BCR and working for CN. - L.F. |
