Canadian Railroads > VIA Station Three-Letter Codes?Date: 10/14/16 18:51 VIA Station Three-Letter Codes? Author: stanhunter Does VIA use three-letter codes for its stations, similar to the way Amtrak does? If so, where can I find a list of the three-letter codes? The bilingual timetable does not provide that information.
Thanks! Stan Hunter Davis, Calif Date: 10/14/16 21:58 Re: VIA Station Three-Letter Codes? Author: The_Chief_Way They used to use 4 letter codes, but that was some time ago. They have dropped service
to so many places since then, they could probably get by with 3 letter codes. Date: 10/15/16 04:44 Re: VIA Station Three-Letter Codes? Author: DrawingroomA VIA still uses four-letter codes. If you are looking something up on Reservia you can type in the code (assuming you know it) instead of spelling out the city. Most are obvious such as TRTO, BLVL, KGON and MTRL.

Author: ORNHOO By looking at the individual Wikipedia page for each station I was once able to compile an almost complete list of station codes for the Windsor-Quebec City corridor. For the rest of the system the only one I could find was VCVR for Vancouver and JASP for Jasper. They had no codes listed for such minor villages as Edmonton or Saskatoon or Halifax, however.

https://github.com/pndurette/viastations/blob/master/stations_via_full.json But this is raw metadata and it's very hard to put it together as a list, but I was able to find the major stations I was interested in. See Classified Ads for details. Date: 10/18/16 17:31 Re: VIA Station Three-Letter Codes? Author: mundo Several wanted four letter codes, but guess no one is willing to pay me for copy and postage for the 7 page list.
So it goes. |
