Canadian Railroads > Yale DerailmentDate: 10/25/16 19:21 Yale Derailment Author: svecellio YALE, B.C. — A train has derailed near the Fraser Canyon community of Yale.
Initial reports on social media suggest eight cars left the track, and spilled at least some of their contents into the Fraser River. It is believed the rail cars were carrying grain, and appear to belong to CP Rail. Posted from iPhone Date: 10/25/16 19:51 Re: Yale Derailment Author: LKeithR Eastbound or westbound? East would mean it's on CP's side, west is CN. No mention of it on DriveBC so it's not on any of the CP sections that run close to the highway. I just came through there yesterday evening on the way home from Edmonton...

Keith Robertson Langley, BC Date: 10/25/16 23:18 Re: Yale Derailment Author: GREENGROCER There was just a story on the local news at 23:00. They said it was near Saddle Rock north of Yale. It was a C P R train, but the confusing part is seems to be a Westbound on C.P. instead of the directional running on C.N .If you google Global BC you should be able to see the story. Cheers GREENGROCER There was just another story on C T V News at 23:30 that answers many questions The train was a C.P.R. Westbound but the derailment was on the CNR as per directional running. Two locomotives and up to 10 cars derailed after possibly hitting a rockslide.Cheers GREENGROCER

Date: 10/26/16 14:12 Re: Yale Derailment Author: blunozer2000 It looks lite the poor hogger got there just in time to see that humungous pebble hit the nose. If he had been slower, it might have hit the cab. Such is the luck of the draw in Fraser/Thompson Canyon railroading

I'll tell you it is not a pleasant feeling or thought that in moments you might be riding the locomotive down the bank and into the river, once in the dark cold river in an upside down locomotive fighting for your life. Speed had nothing to do with this accident, nor was it luck of the draw. Do agoogle on the Fraser River and you will find that the water flow is 125,000 cubic feet per second, enough to fill 3 swimming pools every second. Somehwere in the trivia part of mind, the Fraser River averages 17 miles per hour, it does not flow, it boils. If a person fall into the Fraser River, very seldom do they surface again. I must give credit and praise to the CN & CP crews that run the Fraser Canyon on a regular basis, it's very scenic and can be very deadly. Let me know how 2 mile monsters are supposed to meet eachother? exrtc Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > This should have the CP RTC questioning the wisdom > of ripping sidings out. > > Chris Rye Date: 10/27/16 10:12 Re: Yale Derailment Author: exrtc Same way they do it on single track in the rest of Canada.
