Here's CN #45 ready to depart Ottawa in July '72. It will be combined with CN #55 from Montreal to Toronto at Brockville. There were 2 daytime trains a day each way between Ottawa and Toronto that combined/split at Brockville. There was also an overnight train that ran via the old Canadian Northern line from Smiths Falls to Napanee.

Today there are 9 trains a day each way between Ottawa and Toronto.....but no overnight service,
