New camera and new lens

I recently purchased a Nikon D5300 and Nikon 18-140 mm lens and used it on a train for the first time this morning. Here we see CN 8901, CN 8813 & IC 2714 lead CN 149 out of the Port of Montreal as they round a curve on CN's Wharf Spur.

The snow didn't throw off the color on the locomotives, trees, etc.

The very combination I am considering. (Want to try something other than Canon, but don't want to break the bank doing it)
