Author: railsmith This CN sulphur train is westbound at Mile 232.6 of CN's Edson Sub., three miles east of Jasper (Mile 235.7). All three locomotives are SD40 units.

Author: eminence_grise The bridge over the river visible in the images leads to the Jasper Park Lodge, at that time a CN Hotels resort. The rock cut visible above the bridge is a good photo location where many images have been taken both by CN public relations and by railfan photographers.
Although the origin of the Yellowhead Highway (16) varies between being built on the GTP or CNor right of way east of Jasper, I think the section of highway visible here is the former Canadian Northern right of way. The removal of paralell tracks during WW1 through the Yellowhead Pass allowed for the building of an early highway through the pass using the bridges and cuts left by the railway.
