Via #2 - The Canadian
Author: Train611

Hello...

Via # 2 was running about 3 1/2 hours late departing Kamloops on Jan 14.
Temperature was minus 20C.

1.Via 6433 & 6442 have 11 coaches in tow as it approaches MP129 on the CN Clearwater Sub. (about 10 miles out of Kamloops)

2. The crew off the Sperry Track Inspection unit will give #2 a roll-by inspection.

3. The Kootenay Park brings up the tail end as the train passes by at approximately 45 mph.

The Sperry Crew gives #2 an "ok on the pk" as the train heads north and east towards Jasper.

Thanks for looking...

Even with the deadhead coach, that's a good number of cars for the height of off season.

I think one sleeper in the winter is left deliberately unbooked to serve as a spare for frozen rooms or cars.
The deadheding coach is a HEP-I but not of genuine CP vintage. My guess is that it is from the Skeena or Hudson Bay.

That is one of the 18 coaches acquired from US-railways c. 1990. Although the windows are smaller, the interiors have been outfitted the same as the ex-CPR coaches. They are often used on the Canadian. I have seen some consists that have had two of these coaches and no ex-CPR coach.
