Canadian Railroads > VIA's Atlantic in 1981Date: 01/17/17 01:59 VIA's Atlantic in 1981 Author: ghCBNS 1) VIA's eastbound Atlantic from Montreal with MLW FPA-4 6773 leading....has just arrived at Truro NS in February 1981 after crossing through the USA and Saint John NB.
2) The Atlantic now continues east to Halifax and is at the point where the double track split and followed different alignments for about two miles. The track the Atlantic is on is now a spur and ends at Willow St. All trains today use the former westbound track......and just behind 6773.....the connecting track from the Dominion Atlantic Railway climbed a slight grade to connect with CN. 3) A Railiner backs down to the Truro Station from a yard track next to the Roundhouse. It will pick up passengers who have just arrived on the Atlantic....then head east to Sydney on Cape Breton Island. |
