Canadian Railroads > Hunter's gone; Can we please have the Empress steam train back.Date: 01/19/17 00:38 Hunter's gone; Can we please have the Empress steam train back. Author: Marcus Hunter's gone; Can we please have the Empress steam train back.
Has CEO Keith Creel ever voiced his opinion of steam ? Any sign of steam at Ogden ? Date: 01/19/17 02:01 Re: Hunter's gone; Can we please have the Empress steam train bac Author: Thumper Nope! Creel is probably just as hard-headed about
steam that doesn't make positive monetary gains for CP. Although I keep wondering how much long CP will operate The Holiday Train. Date: 01/19/17 08:31 Re: Hunter's gone; Can we please have the Empress steam train bac Author: viatrainrider And does Royal Canadian Pacific still run in summer?

I hope you get everything back steam and the executive train. You can thank God and America he's gone. ALLEN Date: 01/19/17 12:24 Re: Hunter's gone; Can we please have the Empress steam train bac Author: DrawingroomA It would be great to have the Empress back in service.
The CPR shares jumped $10 this morning, but have settled back a bit. I thought the value might drop because EHH is given the credit for having tripled the stock value. They're the ones who gave him to Canada!!! Arguably, he was placed there to defend the value of American interests in the shares of CP and, before that, CN. Rick Date: 01/21/17 01:17 Re: Hunter's gone; Can we please have the Empress steam train bac Author: Finderskeepers I think the truth of the matter is that the empress was the darling of former CEO Rob Ritchie. He was the last CEO that CP had that truly cared about company image. Back then engines were given fancy paint jobs with golden beaver logos, CP had a steam program, employees were reasonably well treated, and by and large the company ran pretty well (maybe not as efficiently as possible, but smoothly). In the intervening years, the focus has been on shareholder value. Company pride has disappeared, employee morale is in the toilet and everything is in disarray and chaos. The insistence on the lowest possible operating ratio has killed any "frills", hence why engines look ratty, there is no steam program and the employees don't get any "swag" anymore (we used to get hats, jackets, and various attaboys for going above and beyond the call of duty).
You won't see a return of the empress until there is a complete change of leadership, and it becomes a priority to boost public image, employee morale and shipper confidence. I'm sorry, but it's the sad truth. Projects like the empress need a champion like a Rob Ritchie or Wick Moorman, not a hatchet man like Hunter. EHH only cares about 1 thing and that's where/how he can cut expenses to improve the operating ratio which in turn drives the quarterly earnings which in turn drives the price of the common shares on the Toronto & NYSE which in turn determines how many tens of millions he will make on his extensive stock options. He needs lots of millions to pay the heavy expenses of his wifes high brow horse business.
ANYTHING, repeat ANYTHING that detracts from the above master plan is to be eliminated yesterday. God help CSX if he gets his nose under that tent. IMHO-Ross Rowland Date: 01/22/17 07:16 Re: Hunter's gone; Can we please have the Empress steam train bac Author: thehighwayman co614 Wrote:
