A rare move
Author: Mberry

Working in old Montreal I've been lucky to shoot CN trains on the CN Wharf Spur numerous times, but I had never shot a Port of Montreal train on that spur, until yesterday. I went on my lunch break (with my camera thankfully) and discovered slug POM 2008 and RP20BD POM 1003 stopped over the Lachine Canal with a short train consisting of lengths of rail on CP flatcars and loaded coil steel cars. This is the first time I have ever seen a Port of Montreal train in this section of the port. The train would depart after port security showed up and flagged the nearby crossing. It stopped long enough to let me get shots from a number of different angles. The only time I've heard of a move like this is when Ray Murphy shot a similar train here in 2015.

In these shots the train is finally on the move towards Port of Montreal trackage.

Nice pictures!  You definitely had better weather conditions than I did.

Nice to see Max in the background of a couple of photos.

Strange looking units those.  Good shots.

Excellent catch. Seeing a slug-first lashup is uncommon.
