On Friday ECR 66249 was on the 6E84, carrying sand for glass making from Middleton Towers, near King's Lynn in West Norfolk to Barnby Dun in South Yorkshire, here at Ely North Junction.

Here's a close up of the 2 axle hoppers, there are two types, both classified PAA. They are based on a common design which are used extensively carrying stone but these are unique to this operation on account of the hydraulic covers keeping the sand dry. |
