Author: 86235 ...and ignore the LED signals, the CWR and the modern speed restriction sign then you could be back in 1954 on the climb out of Liverpool Street as 4-6-2 70000 Britannia lifts a heavy Norwich bound train up the bank towards Bethnal Green. But its not 1954, rather 2014 and we're actually on Caledonian Road and Barnsbury station on the London Overground as 70000 storms through Highbury and climbs to Westbourne Road Junction. Still it really is Britannia, the class leader and the passengers are bound for a cathedral city, but it's Salisbury rather than Norwich.
Third picture was a bit of a surprise. I saw in Realtimetrains that an STP (short notice) schedule had been added for a Stewarts Lane to Ilford move. I assumed it was a third rail EMU (Stewarts Lane is a depot in South London which used to look after the Gatwick Express units but is also home to the VSOE British Pullman train) going to Ilford (which is a major depot owned by Alstom on the Great Eastern mainline about 10 miles from Liverpool Street) for a turn on the wheel lathe, but it turned out to be Southern Railway 4-6-2 35028 Clan Line, in light steam, presumably also going for some wheel work to be done. Two modern pacific steam locomotives in one day a few miles apart can't be bad. I also took some pictures of the usual stuff http://nick86235.smugmug.com/Trains/2014/Spring-2014/i-bPCKGfV Edited 4 time(s). Last edit at 03/15/14 10:18 by 86235. I noticed that, the cut is surrounded by residential property, presumably a few budding David Beckhams practising their set pieces. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/15/14 15:54 by 86235.
