European Railroad Discussion > Quiz 3: Where is it?Date: 12/12/14 00:07 Quiz 3: Where is it? Author: McKey Next quiz: What do you see here? Where might it be?
Give a guess if you don't know! It is not dangerous and give your co-trainorders members to give next guess. Date: 12/12/14 02:21 Re: Quiz 3: Where is it? Author: McKey Date: 12/12/14 05:11 Re: Quiz 3: Where is it? Author: McKey Zooming out...what is it?
I think this must be another object so many of us have seen... Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/12/14 05:13 by McKey. Date: 12/12/14 05:58 Re: Quiz 3: Where is it? Author: McKey Zooming out...this is classic!
You've seen it, but where is this iron horse? (Sorry, it seems like this is a lot tougher than I thought) Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/12/14 05:59 by McKey. Author: Torisgod Just as a random but educated guess---the Lille Europe station? I have traveled extensively in Europe and while I don't remember seeing this, the glass dome behind the horse looks like Lille Europe and Lille Europe station seems like an appropriate place to have such a thing.

Date: 12/12/14 08:45 Re: Quiz 3: Where is it? Author: pennengineer Nope, it's on the north side of Berlin Hauptbahnhof and it's called "Rolling Horse". The center of mild controversy due to its similarity to another work by the same artist in Heidelberg. See (only in German, unfortunately): http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolling_Horse

Berlin Main station is well worth seeing too, a huge monumental curved glass structure in a shape of cross and built in 6 levels if I remember right. Part of the structure was built under water making this work very difficult. But the results speak for themselves. Oh, this is also a station that divides opinions, some enjoy this well naturally lit shelter from elements, others seem to hate it. Hope another huge marathon project Berlin new airport will be finished some time...Pennengineer, since this is your home city, what does the project look like now? I'm somewhat puzzled what can take some much time and so many billion euros and why? |
